As a Home Inspector I frequently find exposed garage wiring that is subject to damage. You can protect wiring by placing a 1x3 board in front of them or by finishing garage walls with sheetrock or plywood. As you will see in this video, it's never a good idea to use wiring at a method of storing or hanging items in a garage.
